Psychotherapy and Counselling in Oxford

Julia Miles, Registered MBACP(Accred.), is a psychotherapist based in Oxford offering a confidential and  professional counselling service.

I am a registered psychodynamic counsellor / psychotherapist with extensive experience over fifteen years. I work privately from my ground floor, quiet and comfortable consulting room in Summertown, in North Oxford.

Psychodynamic counselling

As a qualified psychodynamic counsellor, my approach is to help you discover and address the root of your problem, and not just deal with the symptoms. I start from the belief that for us all, our present state of mind is influenced by unconscious memories of the past. If together, we explore your history, so you can make sense of your experiences and then think about them, you will be empowered in the future to make choices, rather than to be swept along by feelings which are out of control.

Accredited counsellor

I qualified with a Postgraduate Diploma in Psychodynamic Practice from the University of Oxford in 2003. I am a registered and accredited Member of the BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy).

I provide psychotherapy and counselling sessions for individuals face to face on a short or long term basis to help them overcome such problems as:

  • addictions, especially to drugs, alcohol, gambling and sex
  • eating disorders
  • difficulty in controlling anger
  • anxiety and panic attacks
  • depression
  • unhappy relationships
  • work stress
  • trauma
  • bereavement and loss
  • abuse – sexual, physical, emotional
  • adoption issues

I also work with individuals who have been affected by the criminal justice system.  I am a counsellor for the Police Firearms Officers’ Association (PFOA).

Fees

My fee is £60 per session for individual counselling.

Payment to be made at each counselling session by cash, cheque or by bank transfer.

The fee remains payable unless 24 hours’ notice is given.
